Now that you’ve celebrated America’s Independence Day, take some time to declare the day you want to become financially independent.
According to Wikipedia: It does not matter how old or young someone is or how much money they have or make. If they can generate enough money to meet their needs from sources other than their primary occupation, then they have achieved financial independence. Age is potentially irrelevant with respect to financial independence. If they are 25 years old and their expenses are only $100 per month and they have assets that generate $101 or more per month, they have achieved financial independence, and they are now free to do things that they enjoy without having to worry as much. If, on the other hand, they are 50 years old and earn a million dollars a month but still have expenses above a million dollars a month, then they are not financially independent because they still have to generate the difference each month just to stay even.
If this is true I could be there much sooner than I think.
All I really need, I have. There is enough money to meet my most basic needs of shelter, food, and clothing. I am surrounded by family and friends who love me. I have a job I consider a blessing to go to because it allows me to give of my heart every moment I am working with and around people, and I can see I’m having a positive impact in their lives. That is why I plan for Financial Independence, not Retirement.
Jonathan Chervil, author of the US edition of Findependence Day, says, “You are financially independent when you work because you WANT to, not because you HAVE to. You can be findependent and not retired, but you can’t be retired without being findependent.
I write this blog with the same giving of my heart every moment I am writing, with the hopes that I can inspire even a few people to learn personal money management skills that will lead them towards their own financial freedom.
How have you contributed towards your financial freedom?
Now that the fireworks is over for this Independence Day is it a good time for you the declare the beginning of your own personal financial independence and the freedom to do the things you want the way you want, with who you want?
